Honk! Fest West Celebrates 10 Years

Honk Fest West 2017
Honk! Fest West celebrates 10 years this summer. (Honk! Fest West)

It takes a village to create Honk! Fest West. This free, family-friendly festival is part of a much larger “global renaissance of community street band culture” says the groups’s website. The Seattle celebration features over 25 bands playing in parks and neighborhoods.

“There is a rich community ethic among HONK!ers, who use their music to erode the barriers between professional and novice, and between audience and performers," says the group. "Although uniforms are sometimes used as a performance tool, individuality is key, and group members often hail from all range of classes, ethnicities, ages, and backgrounds. Perhaps most importantly, the honkers’ ultimate goal is to have fun, to relish the art of making fun as a form of individual and collective transcendence, and to encourage others to see and do the same.”

Honk! Fest West is taking donations and volunteers! Visit their website for full details. This year’s events will take place at the following locations and times:
