SHOPSSince 1973, the Elliott Bay Book Company has been an institution in Seattle for booklovers. Originally setting up shop on Main Street in Pioneer Square, the book store’s current location is located on 10th Avenue on Capitol Hill. With over 150,000 book titles to choose from, the store just might be Seattle’s largest independent bookstore. If you love books, you will definitely find something you like at this multileveled shop. Just about every genre of books are represented here, both new and used. But there is a lot more going on here than your typical book store.
The Elliott Bay Book Company boasts of the store’s 3,000 readings of poetry, fiction and non-fiction topics read by some of the world’s most preeminent writers that have taken place over the years. The book store frequently hosts book signing events with both new and well known authors. The book store also features event for kids as well including the “P.J. Library: Neighborhood Song & Story” held every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., Children’s Storytime held every Saturday at 11:00 a.m. and The Underground Y.A. Book Group for teens in 6th-12 grade each month.
