The Blind Café: Not Your Normal Date

The Blind Cafe comes to Seattle in February. (The Blind Cafe)

SPECIAL EVENTS

To date, The Blind Café has had over 15,000 wined and dined in the dark. It is facilitated by legally blind staff and designed to change the way you “see” the world. The award-winning community awareness event includes a concert, dinner and discussion all in the dark.

“This is NOT just another dinner in the dark…it’s a community experience where people connect, learn and break bread together without their visual conditioning, social etiquette and cell phones,” says the creators.

The vegan and gluten-free dinner is created by a professional chef using ingredients from local farms and businesses. The Q&A discussion is between the guests and the keynote speakers and servers. The concert is something else.

“Ever wonder what it like to experience a live music performance in complete pitch darkness? These unique and intimate performances bridge the gap between the artist and their audience as they're empowered to participate in an active music listening experience, in the complete and total pitch dark! Learn what it was like to experience live music without the distraction of your visual conditioning, social etiquette and cells phones.”

The Seattle Blind Café event will take place February 9-11, 2017 with two shows each night at 6:00 and 8:30 p.m. at Nalanda West, 3902 Woodland Park Ave. N., Seattle, WA 98103. For tickets or more information, visit The Blind Café website. Hope to not see you there.
