|Celebration Lane is a big deal in Bellevue. (Bellevue Collection)|
"Snowflake Lane"and "Celebration Lane" is worth checking out, especially if you have little ones, but then again, my wife and I probably had a better time than our kids when we went. Beginning at 7:00 p.m. each night, the streets around Bellevue Square, Lincoln Square and Bellevue Place are lined with drummer, dancers and costume characters. Regardless of the weather, "magical snow" begins to swirl around onlookers, festive music is played (with the drummers keeping the beat) and colorful lights flash. The show runs about 20 minutes and of course it's meant to be a draw for shoppers to come shop, but it's still pretty fun.
Snowflake Lane runs through December 24 and then the program switches to Celebration Lane on December 26 and continues through December 31. Both programs are about the same, but the later swaps out Christmas music for celebratory music to help usher in the new year. For families with little ones, this can be a great way for them to take part in New Year's Eve festivities without having to stay up late.
Expect the streets to be crowded and plan to come early to find parking. Most parking available during that time will be free, which is also a nice gesture.
