You’re Invited to Go Under the Sea for 'Disney’s The Little Mermaid’ Musical

Sebastian sings about the wonders under the sea.  (The 5th Avenue Theatre)
Life is the bubbles in the Broadway production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid playing at the 5th Avenue Theatre this holiday season. The live show features all the same characters and music you love from the animated film plus a few new numbers as well.

The tale of course is almost a literal fish out of water story when Ariel a mermaid is determined to do anything to see how the other half lives above the sea. After making a deal with the Ursula the sea witch to trade her tail in for legs, Ariel finds a clause in the arrangement that they made that wasn’t quite what Ariel had expected. Then of course, there is the whole falling in love with the prince thing that complicates matters even further.

The Academy Award-winning music was written by Alan Menken and sounds even better when played by a live orchestra.

The musical has a “G” rating and though some parts may be a little scary for some children, but it shouldn’t be overwhelming to them. If you go, expect to see a lot of little princesses in attendance, but there isn’t any reason why boys wouldn’t like the show just as much. While the program is appropriate for all ages, children under the age of four, including babes in arms, will not be admitted to the show.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid runs from November 23-December 31. Tickets can be purchased online or by calling the box office at (206) 625-1900. The 5th Avenue Theatre is located at 1308 5th Ave. in Seattle 98101. Chances are good that ticket will sell out, so don't hesitate to order your tickets soon.
