Party Animals Love the Pumpkin Bash

The Woodland Park Zoo is great place to visit any time of the year but it gets a little more spooky during Halloween for their annual Pumpkin Bash. As it turns out, the animals there love jack o-lanterns as much as people do, so they are “treated” to them over the weekend. This year’s Pumpkin Bash will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 29 and 30 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with trick-or-treating for the kids, a family-friendly “Boomazium” with not-so-scary storytelling and puppet shows and pumpkins for the animals. Children age 12 and under get in free if wearing a costume with a paid adult admission.

Here is the pumpkin schedule for the animals:

Saturday, October 29
  • 10:00 a.m. – Lions, Burmese mountain tortoise, Jaguar and Asian small-clawed otters
  • 10:30 a.m. – Hippos and Snow Leopards
  • 11:00 a.m. – Meerkats and Maned Wolves
  • 11:30 a.m. – Komodo Dragon
  • 1:00 p.m. – Anoa
  • 1:30 p.m. – Warty Pigs
  • 2:00 p.m. – Penguins and Red Ruffed Lemurs (weather permitting)
  • 2:30 p.m. – Wolves and Ambassador Animals
Sunday, October 30
  • 10:00 a.m. – Radiated Tortoises, Tigers and Jaguar
  • 10:30 a.m. – Hippos
  • 11:00 a.m. – Maned Wolves
  • 11:30 a.m. – Kunekune Pigs, Komodo Dragon and Grizzlies
  • 12:00 p.m. – River Otters
  • 1:00 p.m. – Anoa
  • 2:00 p.m. – Penguins and Ring-Tailed Leumurs (weather permitting)
  • 2:30 p.m. – Ambassador Animals
